Bullying Awareness Week starts today and runs through to Friday. Teachers will be taking some time to discuss important messages around bullying and continuing to promote a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment or all. Key messages include the importance of ‘reporting’ a bullying situation. Reporting a bullying situation is NOT being a tattle-tale. The roles of a bully, victim, and bystander can often be complex. Bystanders have the power to stop a bullying situation very quickly by either saying something to the bully or by simply standing closer to the victim as a way to take away the perceived power imbalance that is often evident in a bullying situation. We encourage parents to continue conversations with their children around how they can react if involved in, or witnessing, a bullying situation. We will be encouraging all students and staff to wear pink on Friday in support of Bullying Awareness Week.
