Term 1 Report Cards came home with students today. We encourage you to take time to read the report card with your child(ren) and discuss their strengths and next steps for improvement. When giving praise, we ask that you praise them on their ‘effort’ rather than their ‘intelligence’.  For example, a comment such as, “Great job! I can see that you really worked hard.” is far more helpful in building their continued growth and perseverance than, “Great job! You’re really smart!” We are working hard at Bridgeport developing student awareness of growth mindset and research has proven that praising effort as opposed to intelligence serves students far better in building intellectual growth and perseverance.  For more information search Carol Dweck and growth mindset.
